What the site touches, what stays on your device, and what we never do.

Nityaveda is an independent, non-commercial, educational project made in South Australia. This note explains, in plain words, what information the site touches and what happens to it.
The only personal information we collect is what you choose to send through the contact form: your name (optional), your email address, and your message. We use it for one purpose, replying to you. It is never sold, never shared for marketing, and never added to any list.
The site is hosted on Netlify. When you send the contact form, your submission is received and stored by Netlify and forwarded to us by email (our mailbox is a Google mail service). Netlify is a United States company, so form submissions and ordinary hosting records are processed on its infrastructure. Like any host, it keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, pages requested and time) for security and operations.
The birth details you enter on the Your star page never leave your device. The sky is computed in your browser, and your details are kept only in your browser’s local storage. Choose “Change my details” on that page, or clear your browser data, and they are gone.
On your first visit the site asks you to choose a place, and some pages offer a “Use my location” button, so sunrise-based timings can be computed for exactly where you stand. Location sharing happens only if you press the button and your browser asks you and you agree. Your chosen place, whether a city or coordinates, is kept only in your browser’s local storage on this device and used there for the calculations. It is never sent to us or to anyone, and clearing your browser data (or choosing a different place) replaces it.
Pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser requests those files from Google’s servers, which means Google sees your IP address as part of serving them.
We set no cookies, run no analytics, show no advertising and use no trackers.
Ask through the contact page and we will show you, correct or delete anything you have sent us. We keep messages only as long as we need them to reply and follow up, and we delete them on request.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
